8 November 2007Environmental Statement
At Powell Gee we are aware of the need to protect the environment and have spent a lot of time thinking and then taking real steps to reduce carbon emissions. Read more The following two lists show actions that have already been taken and future actions to improve environmental performance. Current Environmental Improvement Activity Replacement of all 1m² rooflights for 1m x 4m rooflights – the benefit of which means that during over 90% of daylight hours 14 no. sodium lights are not required. All paper card, tin and glass 100% recycled. All wood or damaged pallets recycled. Stripped an 8000m² factory of its uninsulated wall cladding and replaced it with Kingspan KS1000 – x mm composite panel. Replaced all 1m² rooflights in 8000m² factory unit with 1m x 4m, the aim as above was to cease using overhead lighting during daylight hours. Replaced rooflights in open plan office area coupled with the introduction of sun pipes to increase natural light and again to reduce the use of overhead lighting. Re-configured office space, leading to the removal of 45% of total radiators. Future Environmental Activity Investment in an energy management system to provide a high degree of accuracy in controlling temperature outflows to within 0.2 degrees centigrade. We have calculated a targeted saving of 35% in KWh within the Factory and the Warehouse. We are planning to have the energy management system installed by the end of 2010. |
